Conversion to string using str(…) with known type in Python

I’m trying to convert an object with a known type to a string but I get a TypeError:
>>> i = 0.4
>>> str(i)
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “”, line 1, in
TypeError: can’t convert an int object to str implicitly
>>> type(i)

>>> type(str(i))

I understand that, like in Java, int is not a subtype of str (see here) but here the thing is I’m already using str(…) in the code, which is something I don’t want to repeat every time I need to convert an object of a known type to a string.
So is there a way to convert an int object to a string without using type(str(…))?

You can get the result you want using the format() function, which is built-in and always used with str:
